Azad was the name of her great grand mother. It means free. Through this solo, Lila tries to make the link while exploring the complexities of femininity in a world that does not understand all its challenges. This body which is often reflected as a weight, could it not in reality be a source of power? Maybe it is beyond the physical body that freedom is found? In the inbetween, amidst masculine and feminine, where things are blurry, and less easily categorized ?
Just as its name, this piece expresses itself freely, including the multiple layers of the artist. Azad depicts a very personal body language which goes from one shape to the other, from one energy to the other, from one state to another. From vogue fem to breakdance and contemporary floor works, from Bharata Natyam to hip hop, from stand-up to street show, from seriousness to lightness... This is a story about being, human.
